March 20, 2020 North Charleston Update
As you are well aware our situation continues to change and evolve daily. Please know that the City’s Crisis Response Team, including Emergency Management, Executive, Fire, Police, Finance and HR, continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. The City continues to work with limited staff to provide essential functions to citizens. The Citizens Information Lines are active. The numbers are843-740-5883 and 843-740-5887. Please note the change from our sanitation department listed below.
North Charleston Operations – March 20 – Coronavirus/COVID-19
New Operational changes:
Curbside yard debris and bulk trash pick up is suspended until March 30.
Roll cart and garbage pick up will continue as scheduled.
Ongoing Operations through March 31:
All public meetings cancelled.
The permitting One Stop Shop has shortened hours, 10am-2pm. Limited inspections will be conducted, 9:30am-3pm.
Building plans can still be submitted online for review by Zoning, Building, Fire, and Public Works, but expect a delayed response time due to limited staffing.
Business licensing will continue on a limited schedule, 10am-2pm. Renewals can be submitted online.
Police will continue to operate normally with no reduction in services.
Fire will continue to operate normally with no reduction in services, however, all public events and stations visits are cancelled until further notice.
Courts will only open for bond hearings, which will take place at 9am only. Bond paperwork must be turned in by 7am to be heard same-day. All other court cases have been rescheduled and written confirmation of the new court dates and times have been mailed to all case parties.
All recreational programs are suspended, and facilities are closed.
Riverfront Park is closed and park events to be rescheduled to a later date.
All senior centers are closed.
All Cultural Arts facilities are closed, all school performances suspended. North Charleston Arts Fest and the Children’s Festival are cancelled.
Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings have been cancelled through April 6. Applicants will be notified that the Public Safety Committee on March 19 has been cancelled.
North Charleston Fire Museum is closed until further notice.
All events at the North Charleston Coliseum, Performing Arts Center, and Convention Center are cancelled through the end of the month with most shows rescheduled to a later date.
